Calcium in food
How much calcium your body needs will vary depending on your age and health condition. Recommendations assume that healthy adults (men and women) should take 1.000 mg of Calcium daily. It is equivalent to approximately 800 ml of milk.

Pregnant women need 1.200-1.500 mg calcium per day. Women after menopause also need up to 1,500 mg daily. The basis of a balanced diet should provide the adequate supply of calcium. It is therefore important to know the calcium content of foods.
